International Girls in ICT Day 2015

International Girls in ICT Day aims to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in April every year. This year, it will be celebrated on the 23rd of April 2015.

Below is the message I sent to InspireIT mentors and mentees which is to encourage young girls and women especially those interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

I am very pleased to connect with amazing people like you and I will like to use this opportunity to invite you to celebrate with me the INTERNATIONAL GIRLS IN ICT DAY which will be celebrated on the 23rd of April 2015 by sending in your questions and challenges so far on InspireIT and how we can all make it work better.

A free mentoring program for our young girls and women will boost so many young girls and women's confidence. One step to achieving your dream(s) is by being CONFIDENT!

Think of a way that you can change a young girl or woman's life especially those interested in either science, technology, engineering or mathematics but have no one to talk to.

I want to see a society where young girls and women can be proud of themselves not just because of their looks or class but because of what they have in their brain. It is challenging working in an environment where men are dominating but if you are good at what you do, most men will RESPECT you!

Be proud of who you are!
