A Classroom of Silence

Education. I'm lucky enough to have one. I've learned so much and I'm not even close to done with my journey, my path. I appreciate that I have the chance to learn at such a high level, I know that too many children my age, below, and above don't get this luxury. With that said, I am human and sometimes the public school system takes away the value of such an education. I have always been outspoken, verging on too loud occasionally, but if I have an opinion and there is a debate I will say so. I believe that's how you grow, by sharing and exchanging your viewpoints, respectfully I hope. So as I am babbling along during say, World History class, passionate and intense, some days I will glance over at some of the other girls, sitting there staring at their feet, occasionally blinking or shifting at something I or my other classmates say. I know they have a position on most of the topics. I know they are dying to say what they feel, but they don't. They sit and conform and pretend to be beautiful little quiet princesses. Guess what, at least in America, we are past the time where a woman is seen but not heard okay? We have the freedom to SAY what we feel. I wish those girls would. I wish I knew what they were thinking, I wish I could get a glimpse into their pretty little heads.
