Fulfill an orphan’s dream of a loving home and an education

“Amani” means “peace” in Swahili. The Amani homes are community-based homes, which represent a new way of thinking about orphans.

Rather than orphanages, the International Peace Initiatives (IPI) Amani Homes are a community’s effort to keep their children home in the community where they grew up, which preserves a child’s network of support. Children can continue to attend their local school and maintain close relationships with extended families while community members contribute to aspects of the Amani Home such as food, education funding and training.

In bringing people together to support our Amani Homes, the impact is profound. The donations received cover everything from food, lodging and education to clothing, medical care and the miscellaneous expenses associated with raising a child in a loving, nurturing way.

You can help by sponsoring an Amani child. You will receive regular correspondence from the child and are able to develop a personal relationship, which has often proven to be a very rich experience for both the child and the sponsor.

Sponsoring an Amani Child can be done at different levels. The Sponsors can be individuals, organizations or community groups and are based on supporting the child for one full year.
