Applicants: 1) can be any emerging or veteran photographer who is working long-term to document a human rights or social justice issue; 2) from underrepresented groups are highly encouraged to apply; 3) from Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Middle East are encouraged to apply; 4) must submit a project that is a documentary-based work that uses new or creative visual strategies, investigative/storytelling approaches, or technologies; 5) must reflect a diversity of global perspectives, especially those that are under-represented in mainstream narratives and media.
Five to six projects that provide a fresh perspective and expand the visual language of documentary photography will be selected.
The $2500 participation fee, printing/framing, travel cost to attend the opening reception and related events and return shipment of photographs will be covered by the Foundation.
