VOF Week 3:(Am I afraid of being heard?)

Am I afraid of being heard?

Now that I have regained my voice, Web 2 and World Pulse present me with the opportunity to amplify it. However, I am terrified. I am scared that I may reveal too much about myself and that what I say may be used against me. I am apprehensive that I will be judged by my fellow members and that they will not like me.

The main challenge is how to overcome these fears. I am facing them head on because the more nervous I get the more my creative juices flow and I continue to write. Knowing exactly who I am and what I want also gives me the courage to stand firmly. It didn’t happen overnight but I have examined my personal history and seen how the choices I have made in the past has shaped my behaviour and thus where I am today. I am now able to take responsibility for my actions rather than blame others. I am in the process of completing a list of my dreams. I have written almost 100 things that I’d do, have or be, if I were unlimited. Writing is just one of them and blogging is just a start.

Now that I am more centered, I can be bold and say what I have to say. I know not to rely too much on external approval because I can’t please everyone but I can write responsibly. It can only enhance my career if I foster a harmonious relationship by being kind and supportive to others while choosing to be humble and ask for feedback. In everything there needs to be balance.

Other challenges are:

  • lack of time
  • how to write with precision
  • how to keep my readers interested

However, I am organizing my time more efficiently, continuously proofreading and editing my work, and I subscribe to and read newsletters of other blogging gurus like “Copyblogger” and “Copywriters Roundtable” where I learn to write persuasively. I also read “ETR”, written by Michael Masterson, who’s the best in the self development business, to get useful tips. Moreover, I am taking things in strides and making the best of the opportunity that I have now. I know that through hard work, daily practice of writing in my own journal, unwavering self confidence, focus, reading motivational material and sharing in a community of positive people like those on World Pulse who share my interests, I will grow from strength to strength and become a successful writer/blogger.
