The less you know, the better you sleep?

At a recent conference I met with foreign professors with whom inadvertently started a conversation about food. He revealed that he was not enthusiastic about feeding during the conference, he said it's just okay, not good.
I was very surprised and asked - why? It seemed to me that it had so much variety of delicious food ...
He said that THE book has changed everything he thought about food. Thus, he has changed his life and has also become a lot healthier.
So I was guessing- The China Study book? I had heard about this book, but I had never read it.
He said - yes. When we finished talking, he gave me his business card - obliged to write him a letter when I read the book. Although I haven't written a letter to him, I can share my feelings about the book..

It is absolutely and totally about nutrition. About how food choices can impact our health and overall wellness/quality of life.
The author, basing his conclusion on hundreds of researches, tells us how animal based protein interacts with the human body and how American-type of lifestyle is dangerous for health.

Eight principles of food and health:

1.Nutrition represents the combined activities of countless food substances. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
2.Vitamin supplements are not a panacea for good health.
3.There are virtually no nutrients in animal-based foods that are not better provided by plants.
4.Genes do not determine disease on their own. Genes function only by being activated, or expressed, and nutrition plays a critical role in determining which genes, good and bad, are expressed.
5.Nutrition can substantially control the adverse effects of noxious chemicals.
6.The same nutrition that prevents disease in its early stages can also halt or reverse it in its later stages.
7.Nutrition that is truly beneficial for one chronic disease will support health across the board.
8.Good nutrition creates health in all areas of our existence. All parts are interconnected.

You know what they say - it's better to read yourself once than to hear about it 100 of times. So I really suggest to read one of the best books I have read about nutrition - The China Study by T. Colin Campbell.
In some cases it's truth - the less you know, the better you sleep... unless it's about health.
