Feedback from Our Teenage Mothers on Proposed Business

Bose Jamiu (mother of three), Aisha Makinde (mother of one) and Hannah Iyere (mother of two) giving feedback on the training

Our latest meeting with the Adolescent mothers at Ijegun held few days ago. Our primary purpose was to follow up on the last skill acquisition training where we taught them how to make bar soap and encouraged them to start with whatever meager resources they could get.

Out of the ten that participated in the training, three of them came with some encouraging news. Aisha Makinde was very excited as she told us how that her husband and mother-in-law were happy when she got home and showed them the soaps we had made on 27th July and the practicing manual which was given by the trainer.

“As at today, I have bought some of the chemicals needed to make bar soap and my husband promised to support me financially. So I will soon start making the soap for sale”, said Aisha Makinde.

Bose Jamiu also testified that after the July training, she proceeded to also learn how to make liquid soap. Although she has not started, she has bought plastics and hopes to get money so she can start production.

Hannah Iyere has not done much but she promised to put in more efforts to raise money so she can start.

As I applauded their efforts, I also stressed the need for them to be economically empowered, not just for their wellbeing but much more for their children so that the children can have a more stable and bright future.

I also encouraged them to also explore the opportunity of household farming by having little gardens at home where they can plant vegetables and feed from. With this insight, they requested for some seeds so they can commence farming at once.

I also assured them of our moral support all the way!
