Freedom of expression is a basic right of every human, regardless of origins, age, gender…

However, certain people’s tongues are tied:

1. People don’t listen to children in family settings; they are told not to speak in front of grown-ups.

2. Women in some communities do not have the right to speak because supposedly their intelligence is equal to that of a child.

3. In politics, everyone who dares to speak about the bad governance of those in power is prosecuted, put in prison, or killed.

In sum, human rights defenders should fight strongly for freedom of expression, especially in African countries.
