THE YOUNG WOMEN AMBASSADORS FOR PEACE TEACH THE WOMEN OF MUMOSHO TO READ AND WRITE

We, the young women ambassadors for the Maman Shujaa Center in Bukavu, visited Mumosho in order to teach the women there to read and write and to raise their awareness about Resolutions 1325 and 1820.
I was deeply dismayed to find that close to 50 women had not had the chance to go to school and didn't even know how to read or write their names. We struggled to teach them the basics but honestly, it's a difficult task.
These women were truly enthusiastic and determined to learn whatever the cost because they realize that their options are limited due to a lack of education. We promised to teach each one of them once a month. We'd like to do more but our resources are limited.
The training provided by Mavic and Nathalie from GNWP on Resolutions 1326 and 1820 was also a big success.
Given the large responsibilities we have as young women ambassadors for peace, we ask all people of good will to please encourage and support our initiatives and we also thank all those who help us at every level.

Anna
