A Death that should have been prevented.

As I read the news yesterday, I felt as if there was a stone in my stomach. Not that it was something new or gruesome. But that it was preventable in a first world country with access to superior medical care. Not a lack of sanitary conditions. Not a lack of transportation. Not a lack of doctors.

A lack of common sense and maybe a little soul.

Yes, to take the life of an unborn child is a loss no one should have to bear. But because of religious claims, TWO precious lives were lost. The mother died of sepsis, which could have been prevented. Shameful.

So I ask you, those who hold to such beliefs: Yes, God is a God of Life. He is also a God of Grace. Where is your grace? Where is your courage to step outside your box? We are not only one less good soul on this earth, now we have lost two.

Let us come together to bring about change, so that women, and the willing doctors who treat them, can make their own decisions based on the medical information at hand that is best for them. Let not one more woman lose her life due to the of withholding readily available care.
