Audience Research by Gender in Haiti

Hi team,
Please see the attached audience research by gender. Note the role of the church, before radio, as women's most trusted information source. Those of you with deeper connections to in-country communication sources, please share your insights concerning this new information. What partnerships/linkages do you see? Does this information help focus the energies of the media team?

Best,

C.

NB: this research was produced by CDAC (Communications for Disaster-Affected Populations), an arm of UNOCHA in collaboration with Internews, in charge of communicating information to Haitians.

CDAC-Haiti is overseen by Imogen Wall, author of the post-tsunami information needs assessment, which I emailed earlier but I'm attaching here, again. In one sense, the Haiti earthquake and recovery is not unique... Wall's report about SEAsia shares transferable insights.

Wall's entire purpose is to facilitate info transfer to Haitians whereas aid groups typically transfer info to each other or Western media and donors. CDAC is a newly funded project for the UN (read: I'm sure it's being tested by the powers that be and is therefore keen to perform well)

Imogen emailed the research and is anxious to stay in touch as my site and Poto Fanm+Fi's goals are similar to her own. I've asked her to consider speaking with Poto so I'll follow up on that. She's also put me in touch with CDAC and Internews folks on the ground in Haiti and they've already been in touch.
