Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
The challenges of the 21st Century were largely created in the 20th century. Enormous technological and scientific advances, incredible growth and development of infrastructure formed the basis of our modern society. Now the hallmarks of the modern world are the signs of its shadow side: the ashes of the World Trade Center bearing witness to the anger and hatred of US dominance and the fallacy of war as the antidote; the devastation of lives and communities washed on the shores of SE Asia and the Mississippi, and the rubble of Haiti, highlighting the stratification of haves and have nots, while forcing dollars to chase crisis instead of building opportunity; the miraculous spin of the stock market engine offering Capital and Earnings, yet transforming into nothing short of gambling?; the oil slick oozing its way across the ocean to shores, rivers, marshes, and the depths of the ocean marring our fragile earth home in the name of Products and Profit. Will our tears of loss bring change, or will we sink in the despair of the huge, complex problems continuing to expand exponentially, woven from the impact of How We Live?

Together we can find ways to make our communities better, stronger and self-sustaining...reducing poverty and crime; increasing jobs, incomes and opportunities; creating a rich, diverse cultural life; supporting wellness and health for all; preserving our natural resources and making way for future generations. These are not isolated problems to be solved, but part of the fabric of an interconnected community woven by relationships, ideas and work. This is the work I chose to put my shoulder to. What is your covenant to community? How will you be part of building a better future?

My Passions:
