I would like to share a bit about El Alto in Bolivia. El Alto is the city where I live. It is about 3400 high. The airport is here, so all the people that comes to La Paz, gets to know a bit from El Alto. Because of the altitude, people that comes from sea level used to suffer from what we call "Sorojchi". Sorojchi is an aymara word which means headache. El Alto, is city which has been quickly growing because of the continuos migration from rural areas. This produces a lot of difficulties to the people because of the lack of water, electricity, adequate roads and other public services in some of the neighborhoods.

I love being able to picture where a person is just as much as seeing their picture. You've made me so happy!

I googled images of El Alto. (http://www.rutahsa.com/LaPaz3.jpg) I think the one I am linking to here is of La Paz and El Alto is what climbs out of the valley into the mountains? It's pretty awesome to see.

I just visited your blog on blogger. The pictures are gorgeous! At World Pulse HQ, we've been commenting on the one of the women in silver dancing in Copacabana.

Two springs ago, my husband and I went to Peru. Among places, we visited Cusco and Lake Titicaca. The first few days in Cusco were rough because of of sorojchi. Had I known you then, I would have waved across the lake!

My baby just woke up, but I'll be back to share about Portland, Oregon. http://www.legendsofamerica.com/photos-oregon/PortlandOregon.jpg

Although we are accustomed to live in this high altitude, sometimes one has sorojchi too, specially when one goes to the mountains. The white mountain of Oregon, looks familiar to me. I like it a lot. Mountains are important for me. The travel to Copacabana was not planned. One day I arrived to Tiquina Strait and there weren´t cars to go to the town I wanted to go. Somebody told me of the Qolqepata festival, so I decided to go there and that´s why I have those pictures.
