GATHERING THE DISGATHERED WOMEN IN RCEA

I have this burden .......a burden to gather the women in the Reformed Church of East Africa(RCEA).

why do i do this? I do this because i am a woman first, and secondly, because i feel called by God, together with these women to serve in ministry. These are women from all backgrounds and -from all over Kenya. Let me tell you a little about them . These are women with special talents. we have some who are very good teachers, others are very good mobilizers, fund developers, good ministry partners, special skills for handling youth, men and women in congregations.Others are very good pastoral care givers in the ministry. some are very good preachers, others are very good public relation officers, while others are very instrumental in creative thinking. they are women called to the ministry of the church of Christ to serve alongside male counterparts. Unfortunately, 46 years have passed but still but women ministers in RCEA have no space in the ordained ministry. their Quest for ordination has been blocked by divide and rule by leadership which is 100% male, and patriarchal culture. this has made some of them fer and stay in the periphery, while others fear attending meetings to share concerns of trained and qualified women theologians called to the ministry. it is because of these that i see the need of gathering a round a bone of fire in 2012 to strategies for which way for women ministers in RCEA. I believe in the saying -\"unity is strength\". i also believe in the networks of various systems, i believe in initiatives of each system and i understand truly well that women ministers system, together with male ministers, youth and lay women leaders, elders systems and the church courts systems can work together to forge the way forward for a fruitful church ministry that appreciates the participation of everybody. With all systems functioning, honour and glory will go back to God.
