A poem that deserves a prayer

“Words of a revolutionary” is a poem written by Joëlle Zihindula Koko and published in a collection titled “Bloody Tears of Kivu.” This young girl of 15 years is born and raised in the province of North Kivu in the city of Goma, one of the most invaded areas of the DRC for many years. Passionate about writing and reading the young girl wishes with all her heart to influence the political course of her country and to change the trend. For me, this text is more than a poem. It serves as a prayer for Christians, a wish for the atheists, to invite all women in countries in war, particularly those in the DRC to recite this poem and moreover to internalize it so that peace can return.

Words of a revolutionary

Regardless of the place that I attribute men on my continent,

I am going to be the one to meet the challenges that they have failed

Regardless of the prejudices they carry on my personality, I am going to be the eternal one who the generations will draw as a model.

Regardless of the route that has lost the peace

I will always believe in love that we find in one another.

Regardless of the multiple invasions my country knows, I am going to believe in her victory.

Regardless of the obstacles that I have to overcome.

I will hoist the emblem of peace in my province and around the world.
