Hello beautiful people!

I am thrilled to announce the release, coinciding with International Women's Day, of the anthology, "Load Poems Like Guns: Women's Poetry from Herat, Afghanistan." The book features my new translations into English of poems by eight Afghan women poets. One of them, Somaya Ramesh, is invited to the U.S. for a series of readings and discussions...you can read more about our vision, the book, events, and the campaign to raise funds for her trip here:

One of our hopes for this book is that it will introduce English-language readers to some of the profoundly courageous words and stories of Afghanistan's women today, beyond the sterotypes of "silent" and "veiled" and "victim." These are powerful souls and powerful poems, and we are excited to see them in print.

Thanks for reading!

Farzana Marie
