rural day world women congo kabare 15oct2013

On Tuesday, October 15, 2013 OSODI observed at Cirunga Kabare that the women of Kabare are very much abandoned and discriminated against in their families, in society, above all at work, in many activities, for the female is forsaken.
OSODI noted that in Cirunga there is a very high number of widows, orphans, and handicapped people who are lacking support because they are extremely poor materially, economically, and financially;
-Orphans have shown that they are lacking what they need to study, to eat and to dress. They are even lacking a place to live for their house was demolished. They are soliciting support from OSODI which is also lacking the means to come to their aid.
-We found more than 100 widows who lost their husbands in the war, or from illness. These widows were waiting for us to do something but alas nothing was available to offer them. They wanted support. They showed that they are very discriminated against, forsaken, and had their goods wrenched away from them as they were left by their husbands.
-the handicapped showed their weakness through the lack of body parts. They showed their need for hand work for they are handicapped both in body parts and in intelligence. They want to do something but they don’t have the means to do it. OSODI Is looking for a way to help the orphans, the widows, and the handicapped people of Cirunga.
Madame, the Coordinator of Akonkwa of OSODI
Spoke about reinforcing the implementation of political and legal structures, prevention, elimination of all forms of discrimination, development and implementation of educational programs, to improve the security of girls, to fight against violence, to support women at every level, and to save the lives of rural women.
