Hi Hillary

I am breaking into tears as a write this. She is here, in the same building I am at, speaking the words that are also mine, and those of my sisters in the most hidden villages in my lovely Bolivia.

Her words have touched me deeply, not because I care or can listen, but because her conversation is my conversation, because she was speaking directly to me, in my own words. How can this be possible? I live so far away from you Hillary, yet we are so connected. Who taught me your words? Nobody. Who told me that I would be represented by you today in such a beautiful manner? No one. I think it is the effect of the theory of six degrees of separation.

You know, Hillary is a friend of Bill Gates, who is THE person I would like to meet. She is also a friend of Pat Mitchell's, who is the person who is a friend of Jensine Larsen, who is a dear friend of mine, who are also friends of Malayapinas, who is the one who convinced Pat to bring the Voices of the Future to the TED Women Conference.

So dear Hillary, if I got to be here with you today, it is because someday, somehow, I will be able to speak to Bill Gates directly, hehehe.

I know that the six degrees of separation are working for me because I can't believe I got to be in the same building with you today, and if you counted, the sixth person in the chain is missing, as I did not get to speak with you. But who knows, here at TED Women, anything can happen. The fact that my speech talks about how I am coming here to speak from one of the most forgotten parts of the world means that miracles do happen.

You see Hillary, you spoke to me when you said that there are women that will never hear about TED or about the technology involved in it. It is so true. In fact, I would never be here if it wasn't for the impact Web 2.0 had in my life, even with a second hand computer that in Washington would be fit for a museum.

I am here, though, against all odds. I am standing here, and I am the one you addressed when you said you know there are women doing the job in their local communities, through NGOs you want to fund. It is just so profound that one woman from so faraway, got the chance today to get a glimpse of the dream come true activities that could take place if only the sixth degree of separation closes the breach.

So I am crying again Hillary, because I don't know what to do with that sixth degree that keeps me away from speaking to you. Because it has been such a great gift from TED to see you in person today, even if I didn't talk to you directly. Because all this experience is just out of this world. No, maybe just "out of my underdeveloped world". But for one wonderful minute, I could feel that the abyss of technology gap, of education, of lack of means between you and me, just vanished.

For a minute dear Hillary, I felt you in my life like my big sister, the one I do not have, speaking to me from the bottom of her heart. directly whispering in my ear that I am in the right path, that I am meeting the right people who will lead me to you, that my work really matters, that my life does have a purpose and is meaningful.

These are the reasons that make me tell you, that I cannot call you "Ms. Secretary of State" anymore, because you are nearer to me than you will ever know. So here is to you, to your work, and to the way that you have touched me today. Hi, unforgettable sister Hillary.
