Introducing myself and my journal: My Selfish and Altruistic Reasons for Joining the World Pulse Community

About Me:
As a dual-citizen of France and the United States, I developed a global awareness very early in my life. My experiences in migrant-rich metropolitan areas such as Paris and San Francisco Bay Area instilled in me a deep appreciation for diversity and cultural exchange. As a recent graduate (B.A in History from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) with significant study-abroad experience in both France and the Middle East, I am now looking for ways to apply my skill set in substantial and meaningful ways. Rigorous writing was an essential part of my course-work as a history major. Also, spending a full academic year in Paris my third year of college allowed me to hone my French writing skills. Finally, in my previous job at a software company (Moonvalley Software in San Luis Obispo) dealing with online reputation management, part of my responsibilities was translating English strings of text into French. For the aforementioned reasons, I'd be thrilled to volunteer for the World Pulse.

I would be proud to join a global movement and community that seeks to validate and celebrate the experiences of traditionally voiceless and marginalized citizens. Finally, I hope that this volunteer experience will enable me to form a network within the field of international development, a line of work that I feel destined to call my own. Thank you for your support.
