Introducing myself and my journal: Piece of the Sky

About Me:
Hi. My name is Kellianne, and I am going to be a freshman at George Washington University this fall. Throughout my senior year of high school, I knew what I was interested in: history, sociology, politics. But I still felt drastically unsure as I placed my deposit at GW about what I was going to do with my life. I was feeling depressed and unhappy with myself. At our orientation, GW assigned the freshman summer reading: Half The Sky by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. The book deals with oppressed women worldwide and shows how this dire human rights issue needs to be addressed not only for moral reasons, but also for economic concerns. When I finished, I felt transformed. I realized that I could increase my own self-happiness by throwing myself into this cause. I felt a passion growing within me to help women, to help the world. I suddenly have a clearer idea of where I am headed both in college and in life.

My Passions:
Creative writing, learning, people, acting, singing
