Announcing My Story "Standing Up" Awardees

For every edition of World Pulse Magazine, we ask you—our online community—to submit 400-word true stories on a chosen theme for our My Story department.

Thank you to everyone who submitted your story this year on the theme of "Standing Up." Together your stories paint a picture of women standing up all over the world to confront violence, ignorance, discrimination, your own fears, and everything else standing in the way. It's a beautiful image. Special congratulations to Nipo of Bangladesh, Rabia Salihi of Afghanistan, and Maha Jabeen Mohammed of India, whose entries stood out to our selection team. They have been awarded $100 dollars and publication in the upcoming edition of World Pulse Magazine. With so much powerful writing it was a difficult choice, but our selection team especially appreciated these three stories for exemplifying creativity and vivid storytelling, and for embodying the spirit of the theme. We will also be selecting several additional entries to appear in the magazine. Whether or not your story makes it into print this time around, we hope you will continue to write and submit your work on PulseWire. This Editor's Desk group will be the place to look out for announcements on future writing contests and campaigns on PulseWire.

You can read the three winning stories here:

Nipo: Standing for Me, Myself
Rabia Salihi: Yes, We Stood Up at the Right Moment!
Maha Jabeen Mohammed: Feminine Festive Times

And we invite you to read all of the stories here.
