One Word

At the start of each new year, many people make \"resolutions\".
This is fine and well, and works for some people. There is nothing wrong with making resolutions, as a matter of fact it can be empowering, inspirational, challenging and rewarding.

HOWEVER, for most people it's a total disaster.

With good intentions, promises are made to ourselves only to be broken weeks later. This often leads to feelings of depression, anxiety, self loathing, hopelessness.....you get the picture.

SO....I thought I would try something new.
Something less stressful and more hopeful, optimistic, promising and with opportunity for self reflection and growth.

ONE WORD.

I have choosen ONE WORD that I can keep in my heart all year. One word that will \"ground me\" and remind me of my choice for growth. This is a word that represents something I desire more of in my life this year. It may also be a word that reminds me that I need to honor my awesome self (I too often forget that I am.....as awesome as YOU are, dear reader!).

I have adopted the word \"perspective\" as my word for the year.
To be fair and honest, I admit that I chose this word last summer as a way to get my teens at summer camp to broaden their world view and see things differently.
But it has stuck with me for several months.....I can't shake it.....so I suppose this word has chosen me!

I may choose a new word in a few months if I feel the need.

There are no \"rules\" in this, but the word \"perspective\" has slowed me down, caused me to listen more to other's points of views. Reminded me that we all experience things uniquely and there is often no \"right\" or \"wrong\".

I've grown a lot in this way....I like this word.

With honor and sisterhood,
Kim
