does anyone have any experience with water filtration straws?

specifically, lifestraw or aquastraw?

i am looking for easy to use items to ensure a clean water supply for post-yoga classes in post/conflict regions.

also, anyone familiar with the sodis technique of putting PET bottles in sunlight??
