Americans need to get more involved

It is a time in America where so much good is happening and it is beautiful to see but to bring about the true and lasting changes we must either become involved or continue what we have been doing.

It is hard to avoid reading about the nation's economy and not feeling disgust at what happened. It is a case of greed allowed to run rampant under the guise of creating opportunity. We must let them know that we know the difference between opportunity and opportunistic. One where you are given a chance to do something and the other where you take advantage of others.

This disturbs us all but will not stop until we make it stop. It is one of the things I learned while trying to get out of my marriage and really want everyone to be aware. The abuse will not stop until I make it stop. That means you must be an active participant in the process. Just wanting it to be different is not enough. Just praying for it to be different is not enough. You learn that it will not stop unless you make it stop yourself. While it is a slightly different thing with what happened, I believe the idea is about the same.

I was just reading about the Insurance company called AIG, who received a whole lot of money last year from the federal government, our money and our children's money and possibly even their children's children's money since the situation is that bad. They are saying their hands are tied and outside lawyers have said that there could be lawsuits about this executive bonus system they have in place.

What we must do is force them to take it to court! Dare them to try suing for that money when they have caused this incredible mess we find ourselves in. It makes me very angry that they do this but they do it because American history has taught them that Americans are a bit selfish and greedy as a whole. They believe we are still divided by our race, religion or even our sports teams! We really must send the clear message that "Yes, I am this and they are that but we are Americans and are a force to be reckoned with. That it is us and not you that makes our country so great!"

Since Roman times when they discovered this whole 'divide and conquer' thing they have never stopped using it since we are all different. What they fail to realize is that we no longer care about that and embrace it instead. If we want to fix America we must all join together as Americans. That does not mean we stop caring about our race or our sports team or our whatever, it simply means that we work together and send a clear message that they are not fooling anyone!

I think before they always managed to get around us by the use of greed but we are more aware of things now then ever before. They used to count on our love of getting a bargain and using it against us by convincing us that it made the stocks or whatever cheaper so it actually created investment opportunities. Until we send the clear message that we are not fooled by this they will try it over and over again.

The way to figure out how to get more people involved is to start with your own social groups since you already have something in common and we must start somewhere. I know it might feel weird at first bringing it up at a place you usually do not but just imagine everyone else sitting there thinking this in the back of their mind and hoping someone else will bring it up first. Our ingenuity is one of our greatest assets as a country so it is time to use it for our country.
