The Woman is Up to the task

To be assertive, the first step to take is that of building self confidence and self esteem. Once you do not trust in yourself, you can't convince others to trust in you. I think one of the major problems faced by the young girl today in particular and the woman in general is that of lack of self esteem and self confidence. Self esteem as defines \"jewels\" Vol 1 No 1 states that,

\" self esteem is all about how much
we feel valued, loved, accepted and thought
well of by others and how much we value,
love and accept ourselves\"

For example in political parties in African countries today, we have so many influential women who could do great things but will not step ahead to deposit their candidature foe elections. The fear to be criticized, and the doubt of not doing well are one of the reasons which account fro that. It should be noted that the first critiques of the women are the women themselves, women are not just convinced that a woman can do it or can hold certain posts of responsibility, so i think women have to believe in themselves and also believe in others who take the way forward to defend them. I don't mean that anything a woman does be it wrong or right should be appreciated by the women, this will mean discriminating on the men and that is not what we are up for.

The first year i reached University, i decided to join Ex-student association of my former school (LYBIBEXSA-Lycee Bilingue Of Bafoussam Ex-Student Association) this was two weeks for elections and i deposited my candidature for the post of Secretary General. One week to the elections, during one of our sessions, the chief judge had to read the names of the candidates and the various posts they have applied for, i realized i was the only girl, and for the post i had applied for 3 other boys did, i felt a little discouraged but with the help of some boys i went ahead with my campaign, the day of the elections, i was voted and the boy i was afraid of was my vice who resigned a few months later, and to crown it all at the end of year party i was awarded the price of \"best female participant\".
I strongly believe the woman is up to the task the only thing to do is not to back down.Because that voice of daring comes from inside, we can take control over that one that puts you down or tells you not to bother trying something because you are sure to fail. Decide that your inner voice will only give you constructive feedback from now on. The constant fear of failure and the worry not to be up to the task has been a reason for constant move and additional handwork among women and that is why the few who have given themselves the opportunity to \"try\" have not only succeeded but have gone beyond expectations. For example, in 2009 in my country, a local journal published a list of Ministers who have been arrested and jailed for embezzlement, among that long list did not feature the name of any woman. As a result this is to back up my view that the woman is up to the task in achieving whatever she embarks on. To achieve this the woman is supposed to work very hard,build practical plans, do researches and try without the fear of failing.
