Hello lovely group,

I've challenged myself to re-define my relationship with money this year. This is a challenge because I have started my own business and am not earing a significant income. I feel blessed to be able to experience not having a lot of money as well as letting myself experience wanting money, not to get rich and buy things, but to use as a tool. Of course, if I had a lot of it I would buy people flowers more often as well as engage in other important initatives :)

Any resources out there for small independent business owners who are NOT non-profits? I feel like I'm looked down upon because the business is for profit, though it's mission driven and aiming to help transform women leaders. Thank you~

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for your honest comments. I too struggle with my ideas surrounding money. However, I realized that if I wanted to help others grow their small businesses so that they can sustain themselves than there isn’t anything wrong with doing the same for myself. Have you ever heard of the Young Women Social Entrepreneur organization? They have chapters in a few cities around the world, some more active than others. You might want to check them out. I love the idea of social entrepreneurship. What type of business do you have?

Hi Julie,

Thanks for reading, writing, and sharing resources! My business is called Enact Your Vision and I facilitate connections to build community, lead educational training focused on Personal Leadership, do some career coaching, and more! It's like a hat shop around here - very inspiring and challenging. What about yourself?

Hi Michelle

It is greatto have your own business. I did have two in the past with my ex husband. It was a lot of work but we did not give up we keep on going. The face that you are trying to redefine your relationship with money is great and to utilize it as a tool. It is a very differnet concept that I never thought of.

It is very inspiring

Hallo Michelle,

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS that you stepped out and have started your own business!

Small businesses are the backbone of a country's economy..so worry not when your are looked down upon. Rather use that as the locomotive to drive you to achieve all that you dream your business can achieve.

What business did you start by the way?

Hi Claudia - thanks for commenting. My business is in transition actually and is www.enactyourvision.org it's tough indeed to keep going and make a sustainable income. I'm still doing it, however, and just looking for regular employment as well, plus doing Spanish Translation work on the side. Sounds busy but really I'm not.

What about you? What do you do with your time?

Have a beautiful day~

I have tied business...self-employment and it can be hard. I knit on the side and am also a Community Development major student. This year I want to venture into more and thus planning to look for a part-time job also.

Do not give up on your business idea....you will be shocked how much difference it can make.

Blessings, Claudia.
