The ex-patient can always be the best healer

WorldPulse, you impress me with your questions, you know all the right buttons to a woman’s heart and mind!

They say that a person who had a painful experience in his/her life can either become a healer or an exacerbator of the same pain in others life. Usually if this person isn’t healed from his/her painful experience, they won’t have the power to support others in their pain. My source of pain was the negative messages I kept receiving during my childhood about myself, which distorted my self-image and led me to withdraw from any social life, something that had very negative consequences on my emotional health as a child, and later as an adult. But God was so merciful with me that he gave me so much strength and persistence as I grew older to seek treatment and healing from the past, and rediscover myself, my identity and gain self-confidence more than ever. Today, I’m blessed to say that I see myself as a beautiful, successful and strong woman who has gone through the ups and downs of life and has experienced a lot in her 26 years of life.

My painful and isolated childhood made me understand more clearly the importance of having a healthy childhood, since this is the base of your life. A child has to be raised up in an environment that gives him/her self-confidence and unconditional love and acceptance regardless of his/her appearance or performance. It’s important to help the child and teenager to discover themselves and the surrounding world, to have the skills and tools that enable him/her to choose their track in life. My vision is to be a mentor for children and youth, especially girls, and help them to find themselves, their identity and their mission in life, to lead a healthy, happy and successful life.

One of the tools I used during my childhood and teenage years to get over my pain was writing. I wrote everything since I was nine years old. Actually writing was a part of my healing process. It helped me rediscover myself and hear my own voice, even if it was just words on paper. I experienced how powerful words are, and I believe in the healing power of writing. I want to be a world pulse correspondent to share my writings with the world, and to open up my heart and mind to other women around the globe. I want to share stories about myself, my community and femininity in Egypt with you and the world, and to get feedback, comments, and encouragement from others. I want to share my dream and my hopes with the WorldPulse community, and find mentors who will give me the support to give support to other girls in Egypt, who might be, one day, a WorldPulse Correspondents themselves!

This is my story and my dream. I hope that WorldPulse becomes a first step towards realizing this dream. Thank you for the brilliant idea of bringing women together on one platform!
