MY BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS QUEEN

I look back to when she gave me a chance to see the world, I feel love, care and strength of a woman who always kept me warm in her embrace. Without dad, MY HERO, around, life pressed her down so hard! May his soul rest in peace. But, she were such a brave woman, for me, my brothers and sisters. We couldn't feel the pain in her, only she was striving harder for us to survive! She stood firm and won the fight!
That is my Mom, my brave and courageous mother!

I remember I once asked her why she had to endure all the sufferings after dad’s passed away and this is what she told me -“Because of my beloved children” Being still young it was a bit hard to understand what exactly she meant by that.

As I grew up, slowly I came to realize the meaning of my mom’s response-“Because of my beloved children”. Back then, my mom’s parents were alive and were well off that I supposed mom should have leave everything that dad has left and go to her parents rescuing herself from the torture, embarrassment and harassment that she went through because of inheritance issues.
‘Seeing her children growing up with a brighter future’ is what made her took that thorny path.

I am so grateful today because despite being a single mother and a housewife, she fought and is still fighting her way out to make sure that I excel in life; she gave me and is still giving me the best in everything just for me shine out like a star in the dark sky!

She has always given me a listening ear, caring heart and a comfortable shoulder to lean on when things are difficult for me to handle.
“Go girl, you can do it! I am proud of you! I believe in you!” these are such a powerful words that she has been telling me often that encourages me in doing great things and looking forward to do further grate things in life. Because of her, my passion to be the change I want to see becomes vivid each day.

It was so exciting, every morning I received her blessings going to work and I couldn't wait to receive a very big hug and kisses getting back home from work. Now that I live a bit far from her, I close my eyes every morning and see her blessing me for a day and do the same when I get back home and receiving her hugs and kisses. This has been so powerful in lessen my worries, fears and difficulties coming along my daily activism.

From her I have learnt that despite inequalities and oppression that women face in their daily lives, it takes courage, determination, self-respect and value to overcome it all. I have learnt the value of being a woman, an educated woman, a woman as a leader!

To me, mom has been my role model, “I am a great fan of you, am so touched by so many things you do for me as your daughter, for my siblings, for our family, for the people around us and even for the people who happen to meet you! Because they all go away with the best impression of you!” –I will be telling her this every day, because I want her to know that she means the world to me.

I know that I can’t be exactly as her, but I know for sure because of her, my life will never be the same, I will excel higher and higher, only the sky can be the limit. For our family, for our community and for our country, I am the change to be because of my mother!

“I AM SO GRATEFUL THAT I WAS BORN TO BE YOUR DAUGHTER, TO BE MOM'S DAUGHTER.I LOVE YOU MOM, YOU ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD!”
