BIG PROBLEMS HAVE BIG SOLUTIONS

This message is a magical story. Please read …. and believe that where the problem is big, the solution is bigger than we could even imagine.

It all started with a little video which I did with my grandchild Taryn, (an assignment for the Voices of our Future programme this year). In the video Taryn, who is six years old, gives other children advice on how she thinks they should keep themselves safe. Do, please watch it and give Taryn a thumbs-up…. http://www.facebook.com/SafetyTipsForChildrenByAChild

The result (so far!) is way beyond our dreams.

As I hear the story, someone who had seen the video was talking on a plane with someone else between US and Kenya. One of the somebodies in the conversation connected with someone who is keeping the children in Nairobi safe by teaching them to look after themselves. This someone in Kenya contacted me and said,

‘I was told by someone to be in touch with you, so I searched you on Google and found your article on 'Rape of Girls in South African Schools' (see http://www.worldpulse.com/node/48502) …… we would like to go to SA to work with the children there’.

Result? Three months later they have put their money where their mouth is and they are paying their own fares from Kenya to Cape Town (CT), South Africa (SA) going to train 200 TRAINERS who are going en masse into schools in SA to teach thousands of children in SA to detect, deter and defend for themselves!

And this is only the beginning.
• Before the end of this year the 200 Trainers will into the community en masse to teach our skills to vulnerable people as part of the 16 Day Campaign
• And then Jan/Feb 2013 into schools .

….… and so it will go on and on ……

Plus, plus, plus …. you know what? While we were all the while quietly doing what we do in our different corners of the world to make it a better one, the great universe suddenly clashed the heads of three unknown people together on an unexplored road - and told us to put our act together and get on with this job together..... to our amazement we found that we are all three already members on WP!

The training course has been developed by Dolphin Anti-Rape & AIDS Control Outreach (Dolphin) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD-dv5PBtQM ). which has empowered more than 1 million school children and teachers, transforming communities in Kenya and in other African countries (+ 200,000 students per year in Kenya).

BIG PROBLEMS HAVE BIG SOLUTIONS

Please watch the little video which started all this off and give six year old Taryn a thumbs up!
