A mother, Rupa and A bud

  1. A Mother:

An ailing mother,
counting her days
drags herself
from her dim abode
towards a brighter room
sensing her son's arrival
‘How many times do I have to tell you
not to come here’
‘Son! I came to have a glimpse’
‘So stubborn and difficult you are
so complicated and so troubled ’
transformed in tears
depiction from her memories
roll down her eyes……

her hungry days to feed him
her sleepless nights to nurse him
lullabies now sans of music
voice of innocence uttered
I will take care of you mother……

slowly …….
she retires her frail figure
to her designated
dark, dull and dingy room
to end a obscure
journey of life

2.Rupa*:

Dreams…..
to be together till
the end of time
desire…..
to belong to him forever
and his deceptive sweet talks
She presented herself
with faith unfathomable
content after the conquer
he hides behind
the wall of excuses
erected on bricks of
cast, creed and rituals
and of status
compelled to accept dejection
after losing out everything
Rupa
wanders around with a quest
for him to return
Maybe she was just a prey
of the modern-day fashion
which used to be love someday
(Rupa is the name of the girl)

  1. A bud:

she sees everything positive
coz she is innocent and tranquil
for her, there is no pain in the world
she is fooled by the fake smiles
for her,
the truth is what
has been told, shown and
explained to her
she aims to reach for the sky
and dreams of Eden
for; she has
blooming flowers in her eyes
ignorant of obstacles
unseen, sprawled
and stretched out in her path
different is her faith from reality
an epitome of beauty
destined to hide behind
the veil of shyness
to be and remain someone's
prized possession
a symbol of submission
with her liberty captured in chain
her dreams scattered till the horizon
uncertain whether
the bud will bloom in a garden
or wither
trapped in the pages
of the book of her life
(the poem for which i got the first prize in college level competition)
