Travels Across Oceans

I recently left Kenya to travel to visit my sister as a vacation. Its been pleasant and now my vacation is coming to an end. The reality that i will be back at work on Tuesday has hit. Don't we all hate that feeling, even though we know that it is coming ;)

I met a few foreigners along the way and realized that literally they are hooked to technology. If its not the black berry its the iphone or the hct. Its so materialistic, its nuts and boy am i proud to be a Kenyan. We couldn't even enjoy a nice meal together because phones were going off every few minutes! Also, it seemed to be ALWAYS URGENT! Aaargh it was frustrating. I think what stood out to me about everything is that some people in this world live in a bubble. It was appalling how few of them knew anything about what was going on in the real world, about the heart ache people are facing from earth quakes, floods, hunger, poverty, they seem to miss the news or skip it all together. In this day and age can sane people still accept to be ignorant of what is going on in the rest of the world? They live in comfort zones of large cities, shopping till you drop, etc Or is it that most times the news is too depressing to bare?
