THE PREVALENT GLOBAL IDENTITY CRISIS

For every eventual Success, there was always a moment of self-discovery'

"One night, a man walking to Church saw four boys hanging out on a street corner, so he invited them to go with him. They did and went back again the following Sunday. actually, these four formed the nucleus of the Sunday school class he began to teach. Years later his friends decided to contact the four boys to see what had happened to them and invite each to write a special birthday letter to be read at a surprise party for their old teacher. their letters were real eye openers. one boy had become a missionary to China, one was president of the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank, one was the private secretary to president Herbert Hoover and the fourth boy was President Hoover himself!"

Our World is plagued with a plethora of individuals who seek to be like others at the invaluable expense of discovering and maximising who they are wired to be.
"Michael Jordan was bold enough to respond to a question posed
to him on how he became so successful in the game of basketball.

He said....'I am basketball!"

It is not news that there are several people who would have made the top 40 chart on Rick Dis countdown but are unfortunately whistling away behind the counter in one remote commercial bank!

Square pegs in round holes are the order of the day even in professional circles. How else will you explain a trained and practicing medical doctor who goes all the way to the finals of the zonal auditioning of Nigerian idol, doing stand up comedy with a speaking doll!

There is definitely a prevalent identity crisis from the Punjabi slums of India to the sunny littered and dusty streets of the largest city in sub-Saharan Africa, down to the heavily graffiti laced walls of Bronx in the States... It is everywhere, talents wasting away with no one to discover them and place them on the right path to career success!

An identity crisis it is when school children now find it easy to lay their hands on assault weapons and do not bathe an eyelid before declaring war on fellow school kids... someone ought to be in military school!

"When the essence of a thing is not known, misuse is inevitable"

Every living Soul has not just the right to live but much more importantly the right to know 'WHY' and 'WHAT FOR' to live. It is common parlance to hear of gangsters and drug barons killing for 'respect'. If only someone knew that respect is reciprocal and that if you don't give it, you don't get it....I dare say it is an Identity Crisis!

We have and are unconsciously still raising a crop of young minds with giant question marks glowing brightly on their foreheads...ignorant victims of the global identity crisis!

As in the tale of four boys with which this chapter started, it can be inferred that the United States might have lost out on one of its best Presidents ever in the person of President Herbert Hoover if that Sunday school teacher had not discovered him alongside the other three on a street corner.

What are you doing about those area boys lurking in the darkness and smoking out there lives on daily basis around you? You just might be losing out on being the mentor of yet another world famous, do something today.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

“To venture causes anxiety, but not to venture is to lose one's self....
And to venture in the highest is precisely to be conscious of one's self.”
― Søren Kierkegaard

And just as i am about to drop my pen, you came to mind, yes you! there are no area boys, no touts in your vicinity but you would like to help out. seek out Organizations that help to shape the future of young minds and actively participate in cash and/or kind in helping them actualise their set goals.

God bless Nigeria... and every place else!
