My blog, My voice our power

Blogging and online publishing is what keep me on my toe once you ask be about Web 2.0 I engage in online space as Human/Women rights activist and till today after five years through different Web 2.0 application and tools, adopting diverse strategies to address issues.

I started blogging in 2010 through very personal blog and since then i went stages of interaction form exploring, admiring and advocating for it as empowering tool for girls and women.
The ability to share thoughts feeling and reflect personal point of view freely in a creative way and in powerful manner is one of the things that the blog provide.

There are levels of online blogging; from using it as your own personal dairy to global platform.
Being able to share your dreams, thoughts, pain and passion is the most interesting thing about having a blog.

Being in country that have been subject war for over two decades and lost more than 5 million people and recently about third of it chose to separate and form their own country as result of dictator and injustice development which is sad story for people watching from distance but devastating reality for us living in country that still struggle for basic rights such as freedom of expression, while we wetness daily violation of such right through censorship and closing of printed media houses, forums, research centers and youth centers. Since last year, more than ten newspapers were shut down and over 20 journalists were forced to stop writing by the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS).(1)

What i can see that blogging can us is that power that when you know you are not alone through sharing your story you get more power to continue. Documentation and sharing stories help make sure that the coming generation get to see another angle of what their country history and demand for better justice future.

Blogging can make you able to raise your voice through writing, posting videos, pictures and drawing of your own reflection of your live, your dream and reclaiming your space.
Women are the more entitle to join web based media since their movement around the country is restricted if not through activated laws it is through abuse of police authorities and cultural barriers.
I am currently planning to join efforts with peers to enable young journalist especially women through training them on how to use online platform to publish their work since lots of journalist now days are also not allowed to publish in printed media yes we know that Sudan’s citizen reporters run the risk of detention and repression but change need more active citizen to happen

The lack of statistic about people access to internet make use our own networks and relay on small research that more youth are joining social websites and make use of that is one of ways to empower women to speak out loud about their issues and join efforts to build better Sudan for all.
