ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE

If I die today, it will be on record that I spread this particular information, it will be on record that in my only little way, I fought the good fight and posterity will be my witness.

Therefore, I challenge you this day, men and women from more than one fifty countries of the world, whether you are affected or not, though you live in the best world, the best environment and the life is at your finger tips but remember that we all have a duty of care, of love and affection towards fellow human beings. You are a changemaker. And change you shall make. A warrior among women that I hold in high esteem said "CHANGE BEGINS THE MOMENT WE ASK QUESTIONS", it is high time we began to look deeply, curiously and not remain silent, but we must ask questions.

Congratulations to all because we are a part of this beautiful history of mankind. We live in an era unlived before, unheard of and unpredicted by any human being, we are living in a time when the productive capacity of human being is at its peak! Though, it is so contrasting that even with the level of energy exerted by humankind, available statistics show that this is also in a period when the highest percentage of millions of women, children and men go to bed without food, they climb their bed rolling from left to right, counting the numbers of wood that made the ceilings that is if there are woods and if what they rest on can qualify as bed) .

Is it not surprising that it is a time when we record the highest number of death without war or rumor of war? This is why we must begin to question ourselves, individually, collectively and institutionally. Where have humankind failed woefully?

The facts are here, let us take time to explore our era;
There are about 6.6 billion people on earth and our number is still rising by every knee bent by a woman in labour.
A time when the annual economic product of these 6.6 billion people is estimated to be $48,244,879-$48.25trillion
Global household are estimated to worth $125 trilion
We live in an era when it is on record that 50% of the world's adult own 1% of its wealth
A time when 1% of adults own 40% of the wealth
A period when 10% of adults accounted for 85% of the global assets
from this $48 trillion dollars of goods and services 80% is consumed by 15%
Do you now realise that 17% is now shared by another 48% of the population?
And amazingly the remaining 3% is left for the support and maintenance of the rest of humanity/us
The poorest of the world are the remaining 37% of the world's population which comprises of myself and my people...we are more than 2 billion people affected at this juncture.

Do you now understand why there is poverty in our world, in my world and among my people, why there is starvation, malnutrition, poor health and high child mortality, low life expectancy; check this out; Swaziland; male 31.62 and female 32.15, Somalia male 47.78 female 51.53, South Africa; male 49.81 female 48.13, Guinea-Bissau; male 46.07 female 49.79, Chad; male 46.67 and female 48.77, Angola; male 37.24 female 39.22 , Zambia male 38.53 male 38.73 etc, inadequate education and lack of social infrastructure amongst other militating factors that reduce our dignity and shortens our lives. And why all these endless hunger when there is a jaw breaking figure somewhere?

Invariably, the condition of 2 billion humankind who lives below the poverty line raises a lot of questions in our minds and it must not amaze us if what I continually raise the voices of these voiceless ones, who are denied equal access by the power that be or by the condition they found themselves, but come to think of it, who asked to be born poor? Endlessly, do I search for the methodology to employ in order to alleviate the sufferings of my women and children. The name is PPP percentage of population living in poverty, Nigeria ranks second with 70%, Mali is the highest with 72%, there is so much argument over if it is true that Nigerians live below a dollar per day, but I know that there is a way we manage our expenditure so we do not spend more than one dollar per day and yet not live below that stigmatised a dollar a day, but what can be done?

My people, I mean from Somalia to Congo, Guinea Bissau to Togo, from Gabon to Eritrea, from Nigeria to Benin Republic and now as a woman empowered by women from more than one hundred and fifty eight countries; May I ask, just these questions; when will the world come together to open up the stomach of the Telecom tycoon who swim in the privatization of Mexico's national telephone company, this is just to know how many stomachs are in his bellies, that made him eat and eat and break the pot of soup?

Furthermore, when will the world decide to count the millions of teeth in the mouth of the Software visionary, who amass and could not find available place in his house to store his ever increasing wealth? When will the world come to the realisation that it is high time we slashed the throats of that America's favorite investor, the petrochemicals, oil and gas magnate in India, the Steel man of India, the oracle man (that refused to see the depression that plunged womankind into untold hardships), the owners of Luxury goods, France, the the Brazilian miner and oil magnate, the fashion retailer of Spain, the owner of those larger than life Supermarkets, Germany, and do not misconstrue me, it is not for murder but just to count their never satisfied and hidden throats that caused their fears of the unknown?

The unsatisfied throats remind me of the Indian folklore about millions of ants who were climbing one another and saying Got to get to the top, got to get to the top, and in the end the ants found out that the sound they heard were their own voices, unfortunately, on getting to the top there was nothing, just a mountain of fellow ants.

There would be lasting peace, equality, justice and happiness on earth when we decide to accept that an individual does not have a million hands, a million brains in order to make their millions, they are not wiser only they know how to use others to make their millions! Who produces the Microsoft hardware or software as the case may be, that is sold by Bill Gates, how many trailer loads has he carried by himself, on his head or with his forklift? It may be wrong to say we did it together, but it may be right to say that an idea that is not supported by managers, workers, peasants and may be the rest of us, may not culminate into that billions of dollars that caused this rat race.

You are not equally wrong to quote all your laws and policies to prove me wrong as an unlearned and unreasoned learner, but with Moral Capital which is conspicuously absent in our society, we may come to the conclusion that there is no justification to amass wealth when you do not know who will inherit them, It may be wrong to concur that it is laziness that created our poverty, but it may be the wrong ideologies, strange, alien and unaccepted by the masses though imposed by the power that reigns, what if it is the ideologies that dispossessed us of our possessions, privatised our goods and services and replaced the notion of humanity with unsatisfied profit that tore my people apart? May be it erased communal love and sharing and forced out leaders to steal our collective resources, impoverished our land and exported the accrued monies from our oil, and gas to developed countries.

Take a precious moment to retrospect on this, there is no single standardized hospital in Nigeria that can compete favourably with any one in Switzerland, yet our leaders stacked millions of dollars in banks in Switzerland, just for themselves, when these monies were in the Banks, were they locked in the vault room? No, they were loaned out to their citizens to work and develop themselves and their lands. Agreed that Nigerians leaders who did that are stupid, thieves, liars wicked and whatever, what about the system that allowed the transference of such huge amount of many? A thief stole my good, yes but whosoever that assisted the thief to steal it is equally a thief. We must not forget that nature has his own lawyers and judges too, those who stole our monies did not spend the monies with glad minds and joy hearts, they had their shares of pains and grieves. Those who live to tell the story are in agony, it caused them precious lives.

We will re-write our history, but be careful of the part you play in the story of our land. Successfully have I asked my rhetorical questions. When will you begin your questioning? This may also raise a lot of questions for you and may be who knows, we may reach a concensus for an action. The possiblity of another World depends on the outcome of our questioning.
