Dancing in the Dark

I love to dance!
They say I do not have the body for it
My legs dangle like a lame man's own
My waist wriggles like there are batteries in it
Sometimes I leap like a frog
Yes I believe them
I am bad news on the dance floor!
But I love to dance

My music is in my pen
It plays songs for womankind
It speaks for the oppressed
It says "STOP!" to darkness
And says “STAY!" to light
So how can I not dance?

Obscurity overwhelms
Brightness seems scarce
But I am certain that
Movies can move
Yes they can move women forward
That's why I should dance

One pen can change lives
It can make men dance through the night
And bring the morning fast
That pen is mine!
It will sing
And I will dance

The path may be filled with rocks
Yet I will not be perturbed.
I will keep refilling my ink
So that my pen can sing
And when it sings
I may not follow the rhythm
But I will dance!
