Moving On

It has been a year since my grandmother or I called her Nanay, passed away. I really missed Nanay because she took care of me since I was a baby. Besides, I am her first grandchild. Thus, she preferred me to call her Nanay. She is the mother of my mother and she was the last surviving elderly last year.

September 24, 2009, she passed away at the wee hours of 2:30 am. Just after 12 hours which she came from the hospital. I had the chanced to talked to her when I came from work. I knew that its only in a matter of time and her heart will come to a halt. She was just 89 years old.

She had an accident where she slipped in our living room while watching the memorial of Erano Manalo of the Iglesia ni Christo. Anyway, she had a broken bone on her left thigh. An ambulance came and she went to the hospital. A surgery has to undergo and successful. However, she does not want to eat, thus, she has to have a tube in her nose for where processed food could enter. But, there were complications and she has to be observed in the ICU or intensive care unit. The doctor afterwhich ordered for her to transfer in her private room because she is the only one conscious in the ICU. Anyway, she wants to go home with us again with my mother and myself. She was my roommate, confidant and considered as my Nanay.

I really missed her and today, we, as a one Bautista clan will pray for her soul in her one year death anniversary. My mother put her name in our parish church in praying for her soul at the mass. My relatives came for praying her soul and in a way it is our reunion. I am happy that they all came for us to get in touch as a big happy family. The next reunion will be on the holiday of the All Soul's day by November 1.

Please pray for my Nanay Julia Hernandez Bautista's soul. Thank you very much.
