VOF Week 2: (Where Two Or More)

I have kept a journal since my early teens, so I have been tracking my “story” a long time now. I find reviewing musings and ponderings to be an invaluable tool for self-reflection, awareness and growth. An added benefit has been learning, mostly by trial and error, to string a few good words together in coherent and hopefully meaningful sentences, making possible the sharing of ideas, feelings, inspirations – telling my story.
The story of how I happened on WorldPulse and PulseWire is linked to my strong desire for connection with others, and the beauty and power of women working, as a sacred container, towards change. Several years ago, at the advice of a therapist, I signed up for a weeklong women’s retreat in the Arizona desert, USA. This was to be group or “circle” work around women’s psycho-spiritual issues, based on Jungian archetypes – which truthfully sounded over-the-top “intellectual” for me. But I looked forward to what I thought would be at least a few relaxing days by a pool. “Relaxing” is not a word that springs to mind with that retreat, and the impact it had on the direction of my life. I experienced for the first time the transformative power and extreme verve of a women’s collective! These were likeminded women inquiring – asking big, honest questions about their lives, their roles, their capacities, their destinies – and finding and sharing juicy, real answers. It affected me at fundamental levels - shaking loose cobwebs, rattling skeletons, dusting off dreams, throwing wide the windows. I returned home reignited for my work, rekindled about relationship and community, with a stronger sense of the spiritual and an awareness of kinship with all life.
In the years since, I have found these fires require devoted and regular stoking through new explorations and adventures. Self-discoveries, no matter how revealing, soon yawn as yesterday’s journal pages . . . and I must move into the moment and be present for what is next unfolding. Through a friend’s gently prodding email, I became aware of the WorldPulse site, and the “Voices of Our Future” group. That she is one of that original women’s circle I attended years ago makes for me a poetic circle. She is familiar with my creative work, my voice through writing. I think whenever and wherever we have the courage to speak our truth, we create circles that, like the proverbial pebbles in the pond, reach out to the edges of each other’s lives. My story touches yours, yours touches someone else’s, and so on . . .
The circle of my life has now tapped into the WorldPulse circle – a place where opportunities for transformation are being born. I’m uncertain yet how this journey fits into a personal vision, except to know without a doubt where “two or more are gathered” (especially women!), there is powerful focus, strength, compassion and energy available for that to which we put our minds and hearts. And I am here, using my voice and sharing my story.
