Building community throughout the world

Today, more and more people are gaining access to Web 2.0. It is the base of communication now, the base of receiving news, the base of a vast amount of information exchange and learning. This is a phenomenal tool that can connect anyone world wide. As people start gaining access. it becomes easier to expand on their knowledge, and helps boost creativity and ideas. People can easily learn anything they choose with the click of a button, and share anything they want. More and more people can be heard, and more and more people can learn. One person's story, which can seem small to them at first, can create change in millions if operating through the right channels in Web 2.0. What I find is that this tool has helped me learn and see so much more than I would have, and feel so much more connected. There are infinite possibilities when it comes to this, and so much to know and learn from people around the world.

Web 2.0 can specifically be a key tool in the advancement of women's empowerment around the world. It can start with just one spark, one share of a story, that can build and build until more people read, more people understand, and then it can become a story heard around the world. What then? Sharing stories, issues, and ideas, may start with only interesting a few people. But it will grow, and the more people read, the more interest occurs, and then support gathers. Women's empowerment is a global issue, and we are about 50% of the planet! Web 2.0 gives voices to so many of us who are actively participating in the women's empowerment movement. From Web 2.0, we can get more support and more interest, and maybe even those who may not be so keen on getting involved in such a movement could read something, anything, to spark their passion, and begin to speak up and say, "Something should be done!" And anything can be done, with knowledge, leadership, and passion. Web 2.0 creates many solutions for women's empowerment. The most unheard of injustices can be learned through this tool, and it can only build from there.

With Web 2.0, I have the power to share the work that I do for women's empowerment in India. Through writing, blogging, and sharing of different information, I am able to show the people I connect with the successes and satisfactions that may come with working in women's development. Through this tool, people have become more interested in my work, and even begun to start their own work themselves, using the stories I have shared. In learning more about how to reach people through Web 2.0, I hope to achieve many things in women's empowerment. Firstly, I hope to educate myself further. Knowledge is the first and foremost important thing in order to empower yourself. One has to learn! I also want to learn about what other people are doing in the field of women's empowerment. It is so important to share stories, and learn from each other. We can gain such creative ideas, through successes and failures shared via Web 2.0. In the future, when I have selected my focus in the topic of women's empowerment, I would like to gain support for such a cause, and build my own grassroots organization relating to this topic. It is important for me to share and learn, while receiving support through my fellow women around the world! This is truly empowerment for me, and I feel like it is all here within grasp, if it can be utilized properly!
