My Best Self

Several years ago I got a revelation that I could serve better if I dedicate my gifts and abilities to activities with meaning. I work hard; I get results; I put pieces together comfortably towards satisfying results. But too often my work was in areas that were essentially purposeless: serving an interest or a particular motive which wasn’t inclusive and in some cases, was actually unscrupulous or unethical.

Strong discomfort with this life path led me to reflect heavily on what I should do to serve the highest good, the best in me…

At relative risk – by society’s standards – I took the big step of leaving traditional employment, to ‘be the change’ I wish to see in the world, following guidance of a primary leadership model, Gandhi… that change being: harmonious relationships among all people.

Never knowing precisely what I was doing I would consistently listen to my heart and move from place to place, physically, virtually, wherever… to teach principles of wellbeing, self-love and Quality of Life, based on extensive study and immersion in my own life. Wherever the message seemed appropriate I would extend it, as I felt the need for [personal] leadership overrode any verbal delivery that I could muster in a training room setting.

In due time my curiosity with technology and fascination with learning pulled me to the global forums offered by the internet and to test myself on ‘education’, blindly, virtually, only from utilising creative expressions which I was actually learning as I went along…

At each juncture I could sense that the challenge to myself on the creative end, was a direct connection to that ‘best self’ I speak of… The sense of satisfaction was and remains very high and motivates me every day to wake up and go again…

That informal outreach that formed the basis of so much of my ‘work’ led me to ‘meet’ many great souls: other deep persons on their path of ‘being the change’, committed to helping to bring us all along, even while going through the refinement process for themselves; some were inspired by my effort and encouraged my sharing of perspective in diverse forums… meaningful places where the message and method might help stimulate the movement to a kinder and more compassionate world.

My concern about service to the Greater Good has been predominant in my mind and thus my associations also. Any avenue which will attend to the overarching needs of society will draw me and this – the World Pulse – is an important method of harmonising and bringing balance to the communication of messages, both outright and subliminal, which presently feed our choices and affect the decision making processes that we continually use.

As a woman it is impossible to not note the lack of feminine voices in mainstream media; how rarely issues of meaning to me and us make the ‘headlines’… and so, if I can lend to the emerging Voices of the Future, I sincerely want to do so.
