Period Leave dispute



Some days back I was invited by one local news channel for one debate discussion over the topic Period Leave for women employees yes or no?I along with other 3women were participants. All were from different fields.One participant vehemently opposed the proposalof leave during monthly menstruation period of women. Very recent past some of the private sector of India started granting one day leave for women on this ground.



The lady opposing the idea isa business women but her argument is that by taking leave for this reason will put the women employee in an embarrassing situation in front of her male colleague. Some male person who commented on this over phone during the telecast were of same view.Another point of objection that it may lead to misuse, technically women will get 12 days leave in a year. without any requirement they will misuse the facility which will lead to loss of valuable working time, further it is against the principle of gender equality.



I am in favor of this proposal because many women feel uneasiness both physically and mentally. One day leave in a month if necessary women will avail and this will not a matter to be hidden.All male person do know about this because every one born out of a women womb. This is only biology of women.



Further instead of allowing 12 leave with pay can be modified to 6/7 leave with no pay cut and restwith halfpay in that context the fear of misuse will reduce.



Regarding gender equality it is our constitution provides special provision for women & Children can be made toempower.



My view was well appreciated.
