going public

two years have passed since i discovered about my status i have dealt with
the shock, the denial and now moving on.i remember those long nights just after i discovered the shock, death and the fact that this time it not someone else its me.i thought that it must be a bad dream and somehow i will at one time wake up from it.to my surprise not yet..

i have now come to terms with it.yesterday my 6year old son told me that the class teacher keeps on asking him where his mummy works.i told him to tell her that mummy helps those people that have a disease called HIV.he was so innocent he could not understand and he started asking me about what kind of an illnesses this was;if i too could get infected by touching this people that i help.i told him that i cannot get infected by touching them its an illness found inside the blood.when he sees me wear my red ribbon he wants to know why i where it.innocence again..i hope one day he will be able to understand and by someone explaining to him the right way.

thats why im going public with my status to help those young people out there understand what kind of an illness this is and understand it the right way.i also want to create an impact in reaching the youth since they are the most vulnerable.i want people like me who have closed themselves in closets so that they can not be associated with the illness to come out since we are so many out here.i want us to fight stigma and discrimination head on and to help the people that need our help and those that have been orphaned.

i want to make a better Kenya.

i speak to the youth and organizations and would be glad to speak at any event.any one interested should reach me via e.mail tabby_thuita@yahoo.com or cell no.0721-564263.i would be glad to help where possible.

let us fight this its possible!
