Future Communication Centers of Education as Pathways of Empowering women

Mother Teresa said in one of her many great quotes “If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.” It inspires me that you don’t need to be anyone great or in a position of authority or influence to make a difference in other peoples’ lives.

And that is exactly what I plan to do with my life; that is to use my skills and expertise and all the things I have learnt and continue to learn to help people less privileged than me and women especially to succeed, thrive and achieve their dreams and ambitions in life.

The contribution to society that I would like to achieve in my life, eventually, is to open a series of communications and career skills training colleges in my country Zimbabwe in underprivileged and underdeveloped regions such as rural areas. These institutions will educate girls on how to communicate well by enhancing their communication skills, in various aspects, because I believe being able to communicate effectively so your message is understood and received well is of utmost importance in life. As Malcolm X put it, “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”

The programs of this institution will be designed to help women and girls navigate current life transitions and explore new life directions giving attention to personal growth, self-esteem and self-awareness, empowerment & inspiration, career exploration and career planning. There are also so many communication tools available now that make communication so much easier. I would like to help young girls especially in rural under-privileged areas to learn to use the communication tools they have, that being their voice for one, tied in together with technology to communicate effectively, get heard and grow professionally.

My current ambition defines will help me achieve these goals. As I continue to grow in the field of communications for non-profit to meet the causes of organizations, I develop sustainable communication expertise aimed at meeting human needs. With 10 years of experience in communications for private and public enterprises, I plan to use my insight and vision in the field of marketing, communications and brand strategy results in a meaningful way as well as providing creative solutions. Applying my passion for humanitarian work with my education and skills will lead to formulating ambitious goals and achieving them. As a communications expert, by using my knowledge about the fields of brand strategy, marketing communications and new media I can enrich the work of non-profit organizations and help organizations, especially those that empower women, to communicate their messages effectively. Attaining a Masters Degree in a peace and development related field is also on the top of my agenda, so that I attain vital knowledge and skills in development work.

World Pulse is a great partner in my plans as it empowers women and trains women in skills necessary for them to identify and provide solutions to problems that affect them and other women. Susan B. Anthony, a women's activist said; “A woman must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself.” I think to a large extent World Pulse is helping women protect themselves by giving them tools and opportunities to do so. This wealth of knowledge proves of vital importance to me in my goals as I will gain valuable skills and expertise in communication techniques and tools that help women to get their voices heard. The work that World Pulse is doing is phenomenal, as it not only helps women get their voices heard, but provides a forum for women to share and get to know one another and get inspired and encouraged whilst doing so.
