Grassroot Women's Conference on Climate Change

GenderCC – Women for Climate Justice will host an international conference of
grassroots women prior to the UNFCCC COP17 on 24th /25th of November 2011 for
exchange and expression of grassroots women’s climate change issues and demands
for COP17. The conference will bring together grassroots women from various world
regions and representatives of development organisations, NGOs, donors and others
working on the issues of gender and climate change.
As countries prepare for the UNFCCC COP 17 and working on their negotiation
positions which in most cases do not consider gendered impacts of climate change and
strategies for mitigation at all, it is time for grassroots women from all over the world
to come together and strengthen their voice. In a concerted action, pressure should
be build up on the negotiating parties to support the claims for a climate change
agreement that takes women’s critical climate change issues wholeheartedly into
account.
Detailed programme of the conference will follow soon.
