Realization before it is too late

I was recalling the last frightening moment i had just a week ago. Nepal was hit by 6.8 magnitude of earthquake. It got me wondering what a huge catastrophe it would have been if it even was only 7.0. We were lucky to not have been in that chaos. But as i was surfing the net today about earthquakes, i checked into a site which showed the devastation in china on 2008 and was shocked to find out most of the victims were children. A school building collapsed leaving many children dead and injured. The people of that province said the school was built on corruption and so the angry parents of those children were on strike with the government.

The motto of me writing this journal is realization before it is too late. In urban parts of Nepal, especially Kathmandu, the restructuring of houses is growing immensely and still it seems no one is even concerned. People have become so materialized and focused on money that they have forgotten the essence of living. With the expensive economy that is slowly engulfing our country, people have become selfish and self-centered for moving forward without realizing that they are moving for uncertainty. Every house in Kathmandu city is commercialized, and just for the sake of business, people have blindly agreed to impossibly tower their houses more than their area could stand. The point is, not even our government is taking any actions for such foolishness. Well to tell the truth, the most weak buildings in the capital might be the government buildings itself. Whether they have not spent enough on strengthening the buildings or cropped money from funds for benefits, no one knows but still it got me thinking, what if it is too late for them. Their ignorance towards some structural laws in building houses could result like in China. I don't believe every school in Nepal is strong, and government is allowing many schools to be run without proper supervision. Just for the sake of acquiring some fortune, they might be gambling with lives. I am afraid for the children, god forbid, if another quake strikes and the fate of our children lead to sadness. I don't even want to think about it but ignorance is a sin. Our people need to act and realization is the first step. I strongly believe the people of our country is very united, but ignoring these issues and waiting for something to happen would just awaken the risk. Either the government wish to take fault because it is apparent that they are the one who will have to answer to public if something happens or realize the situation and take precautions and care before hand. The concern should rise from us, it is evident, our leaders are not going to act in time but it is not too late to do something and wake them.

I also hope people all over the world should also realize the gravity of global warming and take it seriously and help each other out so that when bad times comes, every country would stand united.
