She studies in class 11 so she cannot be more than 16. A minor girl, technically still a child. In front of a club she was publicly molested for over 30 minutes by 20 men, who were all laughing at her plight while the little girl, defenseless as she was, was screaming for help while more and more men joined in to molest her. One man in brown t-shirt slapped her repeatedly while she fell down several times on the floor. She cried and yelled. It was right on the main road while hundreds of cars went ahead crossing her

No one came to her rescue.

The case is now being fought by the National Commission of Woman. Three miscreants have been arrested. Maybe they will be penalized. The question now is will we also penalize the hundred odd people who were bystanders, over lookers and driving cars that wizzed past her?

What is the status of a girl, a woman in India??

We are living in a mock security that we are better off here.It happened to her, it could happen to you tomorrow. Dont be too confident about being born in India!

Not yet.

This is so so sad!!! Breaks my heart. We need to think about what we can do to protect the Women and girls in the developing world.

Thanks for sharing, Urmila.

I believe everybody has the potential to live a better life. Given the Opportunity, Education and Motivation ANYONE can become someone admirable. Nobody is a NOBODY, everybody is SOMEBODY.

Dear AcheingNas,

Thanks sister for the support and your words that we need to think how to protect ourselves. It's of great concern to me because I wonder where to begin and where to end!

These men who ruthlessly molested her, obviously think that the minor girl is justified in being molested and even raped because she was out at night at 9.30 pm and was coming out of a club. The misplaced value system is behind all the crime against women in India!

Stay strong! I just want to tell this unfortunate girl- "Guwahati girl, we are with you!"

I am short of words. I cannot imagine such a thing will happen to an innocent child. Justice must take its course. Oh my God! I feel like taking the position of a Judge right now. What is the world turning into? What are human beings turning into? Animals? Nothing short of animals. I need to look closely into the figure of all those who involved in that degrading act....maybe they are monkeys in human shapes. Hmmmmmm! Something must be done to protect the weaker sex....woman. Urmila, thank you for sharing this story....I will forever keep it in my heart. This is so pathetic. This is so sad.

Dear Nakinti,

I share with you deep shock, frustration, helplessness and rage. This shouldn't have happened! I could not watch the footage more than once!!

I wish molestation and rape was just not a term in jail, it should be made an 'unbailable offense' and shoudl be accompanied by social boycott of the miscreants.

This is so sad.

Dear usha,

You are right we have very little reason to rejoice with so much crime against women in our homes, workplace and outside. But I am glad at World Pulse we have a global sisterhood where we can share our experiences and help.eavh.other find solutions.

Dear Usha,

This incident may have made it to the front page of every newspaper while there are hundreds and thousands of women who suffer silently, from the fear of being accused or misjudged.

We must speak about this at every opportunity we get, among other women, colleagues, friends and even on FB. By voicing our concern and solidarity towards minor girl we play a part in creating sympathy and acceptance for such victims.

Thanks for your views and feelings. God bless:)
