Marcela - My role model!

Not my own source but I still love her: http://education.ucf.edu/departments.cfm

During my student year, if you ask me who was the person that influenced me a lot - I will answer - Marcela! She always criticized me - and I always knew the reason! I was skipping classes, falling asleep during the class, while she - my English teacher at university - would come in and say - "Hey - wake up and go home - and relax" or... "don't put your tea spoon into the tea because it is not making any good to the tea taste" and all that in the class when nothing like drinking tea or sleeping was allowed... She was also calling me SHAROWICHKA - a word that if translated from Russian would mean "the one that does something without too much effort and still gets benefit from it",
Well in Marcella case... - even I was not her best student - I did feel she cared about me... and that is when all the wonders begin... please follow on the post below - it does not belong to me... But it can bring as much inspiration to all of you as I have right now....

"With almost ten years of teaching experience, Marcela would like to fully devote herself to the professional development of high school teachers in her home country of Moldova. Her favorite academic activity is doing research to write textbooks. Her first book “Read, Respond, and Analyze” was published for undergraduate students in Moldova to study text interpretation in English, and her second text book focuses on teaching English as a second language to high school students. She hopes to start another book on curriculum that will draw on her education and research at UCF.

Marcela first came to the U.S. in an academic exchange program at Southeast Missouri State University as a research scholar. Her experiences structured her interests toward the fields of education and teaching. Marcela decided to continue her education and is attending UCF as a J-1 exchange student. During her one year program, she will engage in graduate course work that focuses on Curriculum and Instruction.
Student Life at UCF:

Marcela quickly became an active user of many on campus services and activities. She is proud to have learned how to swim at the UCF Recreational and Wellness Center and attended other fitness related classes. “I would recommend the Writing Center for help with academic papers and the UCF library information sessions where they present their services. It has been very beneficial to know what they have to offer.”

Marcela is a frequent participant in ISC Discover Florida trips for international students and was also selected to participate in the Florida International Leadership conference 2009. She got to not only meet other international students but to also network with other educators from throughout Florida.
Program of Study:

“I really like my instructors at UCF. We have a range of professors in my program who are either research or teaching oriented so you will get a variety of experiences.” Her interest in expanding her research and evaluation skills made her an active contributor in courses such as Program Evaluation and Assessment. “I liked my research methods course the very first semester – it prepared me for the rest of graduate school and taught me how to conduct research and be good at it, write a research report, as well as how to survive graduate school. I think that I am now ready to do research on a more advanced level. I got that research training that I needed and this is important for me. Marcela received the Edmund Muskie graduate fellowship award, funded by the U.S. Department of State. After finishing her studies at UCF, she will return to Moldova and embrace whatever the future may hold."
