For The World

Story
This poem, by Marilyn Peretti (WorldCare) was first posted for UN Women. I can share it here in the Writing/Poetry section too.
For the World
Bring the world’s women
into this century, the 21st,
and one might see some years
of quiet, cooperation, sharing.
May I share a truth: women’s flow
of berry blood does not make
them lowly, unacceptable.
Believe it. Here’s another truth:
women will blaze the earth with peace
when so many childhoods
are not sold or kidnapped,
then used by men, a murderous
theft of their innocent bodies,
minds, their sweetest treasures.
And the world will be light in weight
whizzing across the cosmos
when women are ordained
as priests, serving their own love
to the Church of Life.
