Sensuality and Sanity

We are told that since the beginning of time, humans have had the ability to choose their own actions instead of acting purely on animal instinct (another name for genetic influence and ancestral training). The bonds between women and men and their offspring and close communities were the bedrock of these ways to form new units of progressive life. Unfortunately, many religions have sought to supersede the family bonds with bonds which divide the men from the women and the children from their parents. In this manner, humanity has become less fully human.

Human sexuality has been made to be way to provide more vulnerable populations that are easily controlled by fear. Priests, witches, and clergy have been presented as having special relationships with the gods that give them powers, not only over earthly behaviors, but also over eternal life.

The wars between the sexes and the generations feed the fires of fear. Women are afraid of the physical power of men. Men are afraid of the emotional and reproductive powers of women. Children are afraid of their own intelligence and abilities. This serves the power brokers well. It divides the most powerful of all human unions so that the individuals can be controlled by a hierarchy that retains supreme and eternal authority without having any of the primary responsibilities for caring for that which they promote and force onto their subjects.

This MUST stop. Sexuality between a man and woman in responsible committed partnerships is simply one form of bonding necessary to feelings of sacred partnership and unity. The more evolved animals all seek touch with those of their own kind and communities. Religions have so feared these bonds that they have found ways to make even the most sacred touch sinful. Sacred touch makes humanity sane.

Boys and girls don't know how to tenderly touch each other. Husbands and wives don't know how to tenderly touch each other or their children. In many cultures. women have been allowed and trusted to tenderly and non-sexually touch each other and their children, and men have been allowed to touch men only in aggressive manners.

Isn't it time that we teach tender, sacred, safe touch to all humans?
