The year 2013 marks a significant milestone because it is the year where I enter into the fourth decade of my life. To me, turning forty represents the first step into a time for major change. Perhaps it is the breaking point of my life where I know that something just has to give, or perhaps it could just be the best time in my life to step into my full feminine potential without any compromise.
As I reach forty years of age, I have lived long enough to gain much wisdom and understanding by having gone through a lot of experiences. I now know who I am, what I want, where my place in life is, who matters most to me, when to actualise myself and how to do it all by myself.
Having a personal vision for my life allows me to live out my future out of hope, rather than remain stuck in my past out of fear. My background and circumstances may have influenced who I am, but I am responsible for who I become. Therefore, this is my second chance in life to make it right for me.
My personal vision for my life is actually pretty simple. I want to make a career change that will steer me to live the life I want. I want to be free to live however I want, doing whatever I want, whenever I want, wherever I want. As I continue the process to achieve my personal vision, I hope to share my successes to inspire change for the women in my community ultimately leading to the same for women all over the world. When women see how I have managed to turn my life around at forty, they can believe in the same promise that a woman’s life and career can begin again at any age.
The VOF training programme is an excellent platform for me to achieve the career change I need in order to achieve my personal vision. As I have recently graduated from a Masters course in International Relations, this programme is ideal to help me progress my newly acquired knowledge and skills. I want to be groomed into becoming a citizen journalist through digital media as this is exactly where I can harness my passions and interests unrestrainedly.
I believe that working with World Pulse will allow me to get involved in work that extends the limits of my capability. It is an outspoken online community that gives all women a voice to champion much needed change in order to achieve personal self empowerment as well as group solidarity. As I have always been passionate about writing, creating, innovating and building, the VOF vision mentor framework will train me to fall into the career that coincides with my personal vision.
As yet, I do not have experience in citizen journalism but I am very keen to apply, develop and increase my proficiency in this area. Despite my lack of experience and insights in this field, I have the maturity, wisdom and versatility to learn, adapt and assimilate quickly. I know what my points of power are and I have learned how to manage with areas which I need support the most.
I want to contribute to the VOF opportunity because the vision and values of World Pulse coincide with my own. I want to give valued opinions, design unique solutions, redress problems, take action and make positive changes together with the online community that is committed to help and empower all women. I want to join other women and be actively engaged in aid events, cause campaigns and fundraising endorsements, working alongside reputable international charitable foundations, non-profit organisations, governmental institutions, media press as well as corporate companies.
The way forward to achieve my personal vision starts here at VOF. It will be the place of self realisation for me - the understanding of what is most important to me, engaging in what I am meant to do and striving for what I am capable of achieving.
When a woman turns 40, something special and exciting happens. The best time to start is now.
