2013 VOF Week 2

Ever since I was a little girl, I was known to be "curious". Not much has changed years later as I have now matured into a young adult. When I meet people, I am very interested in who they are, where they have been and where they are going. I have always been intrigued by the genuine accounts of people all over the world and truths in their lives and situations that can be witnessed within each of their own personal narratives. These truths I have come to find are treasures that hold within them the power of unity and solidarity and the power of change and transformation.

What I have discovered in my journey of encountering people who have shared their stories with me, is that a lot of these people--- these genuine storytellers have a profound need to share their truths and be heard. We often forget the power that lies within something that is shared. After all, everyone as a human being was created by God to love and share in relationship not only with God but with one another. Storytelling in the sense of sharing the truth about one's life holds so much power within itself. Having the voice, the courage, and the free ability to share our truths not only brings about change but also healing.

There are serious implications when one cannot share their story or voice their truth. What happens is that one loses that which makes them who they are---their identity. Yet that is not the only thing a person loses, they lose their sense of relationship. There are no words to describe this kind of loss. We all need our realities to be known by someone. We all need our voices to be heard.

My passion for writing, sharing, and learning about the truths of this world are what brought me to world pulse. Being able to share in and witness in the incredible stories that are being told worldwide is both gratifying and fulfilling. As I embark on this world pulse journey my hope is that I can be a voice for those who are silenced and go unheard. Still my deepest hope is to be able to help those women who have been silenced to recover their voice, speak out and influence change.

Let all our voices be heard

Let all our truths be witnessed.
